Halloween Costume Contest 2006

Written by: ohnojaylo please send all questions concerning this contest to her.
September is here, and already there are Halloween decorations in stores. As you may know, I work in the Halloween industry, and while it's cool to see what corporations like the one I work for can come up with, it'd be cool to see YOUR Halloween costumes.
So I am giving you nearly TWO MONTHS to make your own Halloween costume. Now until October 28, 2006 at 11:59 PM, you have the challenge of thinking up, creating, and submitting a costume that will win you the prize.
I will be accepting entries in several different categories that will try for 1 First Place prize and 2 Runner Up prizes
:bulletgreen: Historical - anything based on a historical period pre 2000. This means historical figures like Napoleon, Marilyn Monroe, or even MC Hammer.
:bulletgreen: Classic - your take on classic Halloween favorites - vampires, frankenstein, ghosts, mummies, Indians, kitty cats.

ArtistsForCharity Makes First Donation
ArtistsForCharity and deviantART Inc. are glad to announce that the first donation to the chosen charity, UNICEF, has been made. We've raised $1000 so far, which is a great achievement for all involved.
ArtistsForCharity has sold a fantastic 127 prints to date, with all the profits going straight to UNICEF. deviantART Inc. is then matching those profits, like for like, to double the amount going straight to the charity.
As we've now reached the first $1000 goal, a new charity will be selected to replace UNICEF and benefit from this project. Our next goal is to raise $2500 for this next charity, and we hope to reach this before Christmas. So we ask for donations from seniors and non-seniors alike. Lets make this get even bigger and better as it is all for a good cause. If interested please contact ArtistsForCharity or any of the aFc staff.
So what's been selling? These are the current top prints from within the project:

Fella Presents: Myths and Legends
Do you think Policy Enforcement is done at random or done by a script? Staffed by Ogres and Sadists? Do you think policy decisions are made by dice roll or throwing a dart? If so then you should read on and learn the real way that policy enforcement works!
As any deviant who has been around for a few months can probably tell you, deviantART has a both a set of policies and a dedicated team of people who are responsible for the enforcement of these policies. Unfortunately there are a number of myths, urban legends, misrepresentations, and other confusions surrounding how policy enforcement functions. This is due to several things:
o The average deviant doesn’t actually know how these things function.
o For reasons of privacy the vast majority of decisions and staff discussions are held behind the scenes.
o Policy Enforcement staff are viewed as mysterious and somewhat threatening.
In this article we will be attempting to dispel these myths, legends and bogeyman stories with actual

Hi all, i've not been an active member on this site for quite some time now but i thought now would be a good time to come back. I've been given an opportunity to do something wonderful for charity and i need as many peoples help as i can get.

In June 2011 I will be climbing to Everest base camp for Childreach International. It is going to be an amazing experience but im not doing this just for fun. I aim to raise £2500 for for the charity, who are focused on helping children who are not as advantaged as you and I are have a better life.

Base camp is around 5400m high. To put that into context, Ben Nevis which is the highest mountain in the UK is 1344m so im going to need all your love and support. I have made a JustGiving page for those of you kind enough to donate. I will also be doing my own fund raising through various events that i will keep you updated with over the coming months. If you are generous enough to donate through JustGiving then please remember to claim Gift Aid if you are a UK tax payer. Every little helps.

If you're kind enough to donate you can do it here www.justgiving.com/mattseveres…
